Chieftain of the Games

Most Highland Games across the country have a Chieftain of the Games.

Since the resumption of our Games - until last year - we were privileged to have had Laurence Blair-Oliphant of Ardblair and Gask as our Chieftain.

The 2025 Games were his last, having intimated his intention to retire ahead of the Games.

As a result of this decision, the committee agreed that the role of Chieftain would continue, but instead be done on a rolling basis for two games, but would be invited to shadow the previous Chieftain to see how things are done.

For the 2026 & 2027 Games, John Johnston of The Proctor Group has been selected and invited to be the Chieftain for this year.

With this decision we shall now start to record a Roll of Honour of previous Chieftains of the Games.
